Dare to Start it Today

I saw this on a T-shirt while on a gym session the other day and it stuck my to mind.

“Achievement is accomplished when you make the decision to start”.  Very simply put but inspirational. Every one of us has a divinely assigned purpose. We all have a mandate from God not only to discover and accomplish that purpose but also to impact others while we are on earth. God has a unique purpose and plan for us. In Jeremiah 29:11 the bible say For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  When we resonate with this fact, our movement will form.  I believe each one of us has a special unique brand to be developed.  Believe you me; someone out there is waiting on it. ‘IT WILL SELL!’ You will be amazed at how much of inbuilt faith, wisdom, tenacity and courage there is at your disposal when you JUST decide to start. A very famous sports brand slogan says’ just do it’. I write from experience.

The Lord will orchestrate events and line up people for you just after you start. Someone once said that there is always a ‘pro’ before ‘vision’. As long as the vision is there, God will pro-vide for it. He is just about to do something new. Trust Him, he’ll make a way where there seems to be no way, even in your desert places, Isaiah 43:19. Go start that workout, go see that manager you’ve been scared about, go write that paper, fill out that application and send it,  Go apply for that scholarship, call out to request for a lower rate on that loan/credit card, write out that proposal and send it, Start recording those beautiful melodies the Lord’s been giving you . Whatever it is, and no matter what start today!

God owns our every Second!

James 4:13-15, 17

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit” whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.”Therefore, to him who knows to do well and does not do it, to him it is sin.

Commentary

It is critical to consciously be aware that our life can end at any minute. We become so busy and entangled with day to day life’s demands, sometimes cruising 100mile/Hr in the speed of life. We never ever think it would come to halt. Our lives are sustained and closely monitored by The Lord Psalm 55:4.  We ought to live knowing our lives depend on him, for in Him we live and move and have our being, Acts 17:28. We do what we do; go where we go if it’s God’s will. Therefore as we make our future plans, let’s always say ‘if God wills, we’ll do this and that’ for it’s never guaranteed. Prayer: Lord, help us to not be afraid of bad news and reports that surround us every day, of people who seem and appear to have the last say about who we are. Help us to be loyal and to be deep rooted in our walk with you so we can exhibit your true character to everyone around us. Lord, order our steps, teach and instruct us the way to walk, Amen.

Don’t give up, knock the door…

Luke 11:5-10

And Jesus said to his disciples, “Suppose one of you should go to a friend’s house at midnight and say, ‘Friend, let me borrow three loaves of bread. A friend of mine who is on a trip has just come to my house, and I don’t have any food for him!’And suppose your friend should answer from inside, ‘Don’t bother me! The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything. Well, what then? I tell you that even if he will not get up and give you the bread because you are his friend, yet he will get up and give you everything you need because you are not ashamed to keep on asking. And so I say to you: Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For those who ask will receive, and those who seek will find, and the door will be opened to anyone who knocks.

Commentary

Waiting is one of the most, unwelcome concepts in today’s society. It is a difficult place to find ourselves in. Today’s generation and culture want everything done yesterday. Technology has twisted the good old patience and waiting. We want our food, money, everything, now!  Two minutes is a very long time for a microwave to warm our leftover dinner. We can’t seem to want to wait. Get them now pay later.Dr Luke here seem to imply a different concept on non yielding persistence. It appears to me the kind of Asking, seeking, knocking isn’t a ‘one-time type’ of deal but consistent, unyielding , no-plan-B-if-this-doesn’t-work, a-tenacity-filled-do or die travail, and I’m-not-going-anywhere-or-moving-an-inch-till-I- get-it type of resolve that will get results. Are we prepared to stay as long as it takes to get the results we intend to have?  Find due to our seeking, receive because of our asking and experience an open due to our knocking? Well let’s brace ourselves. This is bible’s old-school way of getting results, Shalom!

God Never Stops Watching Over You

I love the lines in the song ‘miracle worker’ by Sinach, that ‘even when I don’t see it, You’re working, even when I can’t feel it, You’re working, You never stop, You never stop working’, Last  Friday evening, I experienced the power of those words, that God is still at work in and for us regardless of our awareness. I had just completed a visit to my doctor where I had gone for routine annual physicals. It was a chilly day in Dallas, Texas. I couldn’t wait to jump back into my car and head home after being in the clinic for about two hours. As soon as I got to the car, I noticed I didn’t my car keys and thought I had left them at the clinic. Quickly, I run back into the building as it was almost 5 o’clock and they were about to close. The keys were neither by the seat I had sat on nor had anyone turned them to the receptionist. I rechecked my pockets again almost now for the tenth time as I dashed back toward my car.  As I peeped through the passenger side window, there lay my keys by the glove compartment.  Many thoughts crossed my mind. I called my wife to alert her about what was going on and to ask if she could text me our car insurance contact so I could call for assistance. As I hang up the phone with her, an elderly man with a big bag of long tools in his hand approached me and he said “Don’t worry I’ll get it opened for you”. I couldn’t believe what was happening. It was now getting dark and very chilly and people were quickly driving off from their offices. I noticed that I had seen this man inside the clinic. He must have been the last one to have his physicals done. The Bibles says

‘fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand’ Isaiah 41: 10.

At that moment, I recalled helping strangers in many occasions from different places and I thought, maybe God is paying me back. Now, whether that is the case or not, one thing I’m convinced about, is that God never stops working to protect, provide, care, and… fill in the blank. No matter how bad the situation may be, be assured that He is aware of your situation and He will rescue you. It wasn’t a coincidence that an elderly man, the last to be served in the clinic would have the right tools needed at a very moment of my need. He finally got the door opened, thanked him, tipped him with a $20.00, the only cash I had, and off I drove. I couldn’t help but thank God for his provision and to be reminded that He’s watching over us at all times. God is right now watching over you. He is able!
